Traffic halts, pedestrians freeze as giant anaconda crosses busy road in Brazil
A video has gone viral on social media that shows a giant green anaconda crossing a busy road in Brazil’s Porto Velho. Pedestrians and traffic came to a complete halt after spotting the giant snake slithering on the concrete road and the divider before finally reaching the other side.
According to Global News, the video was first shared on social media by Italo Nascimento Fernandes.
In the viral clip, some people can be seen stopping cars to let the giant anaconda cross the road.
Some bewildered travelers managed to take pictures and videos of the reptile.

Local news reports said the snake was over three-meters long and weighed almost 30 kilograms. Biologist Falvio Terassini told reporters the snake had reached the city road while searching for food.
“These snakes can appear in the urban area in search of food, which is small rodents, and in the city they can feed on dogs and even cats, so it’s good to be careful not to leave the trash in the yard because these animals can smell the rodents or these animals and come close to homes, especially in the rainy season,” Terassini told Brazilian website G1 Globo.
According to snake experts, the Green anaconda is the heaviest snake in the world and prefers to stay in water than on land.
However, this is not the only giant snake sighting in recent times. A few days ago, an 18-foot-python was found atop a home in Detroit’s East Seven Mile neighborhood. The snake, identified as Juliet, was noticed after a dog barked at her and alerted the neighbours.
